In the year 2022, WhatsApp is slated to release a slew of new features for its users. In the latest WhatsApp beta update (v for iOS, the messaging app has started showing people’s profile images in message alerts, which was one of the most anticipated features of the year.

WhatsApp Profile Photos Notififcation

A well-known WhatsApp tipper WhatsApp is testing profile images in alerts, according to WaBetaInfo, and they’re already showing up for certain iOS beta testers. When a person sends a message, this feature will display the person’s profile image in alerts. DPs will appear in both individual and group WhatsApp conversation alerts, making it easier to distinguish between senders.

This functionality will work similarly to how Twitter displays a person’s profile picture when they send a message or reply to a tweet. Snapchat has a similar feature where users’ Bitmoji appear in notifications. Anmol from our team was able to test out the functionality in WhatsApp beta on his iPhone X, so check out the video below to see it in action:

It’s worth mentioning that this feature isn’t available to all iOS beta users yet, but WhatsApp is anticipated to make it available to everyone soon. It is likely to reach non-beta users, as well as Android users, in the near future.

For those who don’t know, WhatsApp is set to release a redesigned Contact Info page for Android and iOS users soon, which will look similar to how contact details are displayed in iOS’ native contacts area. Users will also be able to search for neighboring companies such as shops, hairdressers, and other services.

Additionally, the Meta-owned messaging platform may include Communities for group administrators to gain more control over their groups and connect with other administrators to establish larger groups.

However, it’s unclear when or if these functionalities will be added to WhatsApp. Given that it is the new year, it is possible that it will occur shortly. When it does, we’ll let you know everything you need to know. As a result, stay tuned!
