Faced with many obstacles over the years, WhatsApp launched WhatsApp Pay with UPI support in India last November; however, the payment service has never been successful in terms of the number of active users. In fact, earlier this year we reported that transaction volume fell from 0.81 million in December to 0.56 million in January. At the time of this writing, the number has dropped even further to 0.47 million in July. In an effort to increase its user base, WhatsApp is currently testing a payment label with beta testers.
As WhatsApp prosecutor WABetaInfo found out, the messaging giant has begun testing a new paid chat window shortcut with beta 188.8.131.52. The WhatsApp Pay shortcut is next to the camera and microphone buttons.
As you can see in the image above, WhatsApp hasn’t removed the dedicated Payments button yet, so you can either use the new shortcut or access WhatsApp Pay from the existing menu, we’ll have to wait and see if WhatsApp removes the panel. Old math or not. keyboard shortcuts to avoid duplication.
The new location will increase the visibility of WhatsApp Pay. It will be interesting to see if the new label improves the acceptance of the payment service by users. We will find out about this a few months after the launch of WhatsApp. direct paid access to the stable version of the application.
