Faced with many obstacles over the years, WhatsApp launched WhatsApp Pay with UPI support in India last November; however, the payment service has never been successful in terms of the number of active users. In fact, earlier this year we reported that transaction volume fell from 0.81 million in December to 0.56 million in January. At the time of this writing, the number has dropped even further to 0.47 million in July. In an effort to increase its user base, WhatsApp is currently testing a payment label with beta testers.

As WhatsApp prosecutor WABetaInfo found out, the messaging giant has begun testing a new paid chat window shortcut with beta 2.21.17.19. The WhatsApp Pay shortcut is next to the camera and microphone buttons.
