WhatsApp is working on several new features for its messaging platform to improve the security and user experience. The company is currently testing more time-limited options for the disappearing messages feature introduced late last year. According to the report, WhatsApp may allow users to set a 90-day time limit for messages to disappear over the next few days.

Now, for those who don’t know, WhatsApp introduced the disappearing messages feature in November 2020 to join rivals like Telegram and Signal. This feature currently allows users to send messages that will disappear after seven days. options on the settings page for the disappearance of notifications, except for the “On” buttons and Off. You cannot change the auto-delete interval yet.

However, reliable WhatsApp informant WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp may add a new 24-hour option for the temporary messaging feature earlier this year. Now, insiders have found evidence that WhatsApp may add a 90-day option to the disappearing messages feature in the next few days. According to the latest WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is working on a 90-day option for the disappearing messages feature while retaining the 24-hour option. You can see a preview of the new 90-day option along with other options on the disappearing message settings page in the screenshot below.

In terms of accessibility, WABetaInfo reports that new limited-time options are currently being developed, however, they will soon be presented to users as a new public update in the coming weeks. We will let you know as soon as this feature becomes available on WhatsApp.
