Samsung appears to want to explore more inventive foldable phone designs after establishing itself as a major participant in the foldable smartphone market. According to a recent patent filing, the company now aims to produce a smartphone that can roll and fold at the same time. The Samsung ‘Fold and Slide’ smartphone will look and work like this.
Samsung Fold And Slide SmartPhone Revealed
The patent titled “Electronic Device Capable of Folding and Sliding Operations,” which was just discovered by 91Mobiles, was published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on December 16. The device is described as a foldable smartphone with a sliding mechanism that expands the screen real estate to provide more usability, according to the patent. It could be comparable to the TCL “Fold and Slide” prototype smartphone that debuted in China lately.
The phone’s sliding capabilities may be enabled when particular activities are requested, according to reports. While we don’t know how the device will work, the patent images offer us a good sense of the Samsung fold and slide smartphone’s form factor. The device would have a hinge to support the folding mechanism and a motor for the sliding mechanism, according to the photos.
The device will be folded in its compact shape, and the sliding mechanism will be used if customers require a larger screen. While its applications are unknown, it may be useful for better multitasking. When the phone is released, customers will be able to view videos and do more. Things could get even more fascinating if this phone (assuming it ever sees the light of day) comes with a stylus, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
It’s important to note that all of the above information is based only on patent images, and Samsung has yet to publish any details regarding its foldable smartphone. Furthermore, there is no news on whether Samsung plans to release this product, so take this information with a grain of salt until Samsung officially announces any details.
