Parental Control on Chromebooks

Chromebooks are very popular among high school students and children because they provide a simple and easy computing experience. It also has many functions for parents to monitor their children’s behavior. With parental controls on your Chromebook, you can set screen time, customize online content options, filter specific content, block or approve apps, purchases, and more. So if you want to monitor your kids and set up parental controls on your Chromebook, follow the steps below.

Parental Control on Chromebook 2021

Before proceeding, please note that you need to activate the parental controls set on your child’s Chromebook. You need to enter your parent account details during this process, but you can delete them later. Now the process:

  1. Go to the quick settings on to the right panel and open the settings page.

2. Now go to the People tab and click on ‘Set up’ under the ‘Parent Control’ section.

3. After that you will find the new window opens. Click on ‘Get Started’.

4. Click on ‘Next’ and select your child’s account. Click ‘Yes’

5. On the next page, you will find all the settings you can control for your child. Click More and continue. You will then be asked to enter your parents’ account information.

6. After viewing the details of your parent account, click “Next”. You will find all the options you pursue. Here you can configure everything from Google Play purchase authorization to Google Chrome filters and screen time. For example, I want to block adult websites on the Google Chrome browser.

7. On the next page, you will see all the settings under “Parental Controls” on your Chromebook. Scroll down and enter your child’s password for final confirmation.

8. Eventually, you will be asked to log out. This will delete the parent account from the Chromebook. If the child logs in, he will be monitored.

9. As a parent, you can install the Google Family Link parental app (free) on your smartphone to approve purchases, check screen time and adjust content settings. Make sure to log in with the same parent account that you linked to before. As you can see here, you can change all parental settings on your smartphone.
