Material You is Google’s Colorful, Personalized Design Language of the Future

Google introduced the Material Design language in 2014, which fundamentally changed the way we display and interact with certain elements of the Android user interface. The material design language has developed in the past few years. Today, at Google I/O 2021, Google launched “Material You”, a new and colorful custom design language for its hardware devices.

First, let’s talk about the inspiration behind the new Material You design language. The official blog post stated: “He is committed to creating custom designs for each style to suit various needs and bring vitality and adaptability to each screen.” Google uses personalized signals (your wallpaper) to redefine users in real time interface. This means you can customize the appearance of your Android phone to suit your mood.

In addition, Material You’s design language supports multiple screen sizes and types. This means that it can be used not only on smartphones via Android, but also on Wear OS smart watches, smart speakers, etc. Google also plans to introduce colorful new UI elements into the network.

“Material You will transform design for Android, for Google, and for the entire tech industry” read the official Google blog post. You can see the new design changes in the YouTube video below.

Now, let us answer the most important question: when can I use and experience the created material? Well, Google has confirmed that the Google Pixel device will be the first device to receive materials later this fall. With the Android 12 update, you can immediately install the first beta version of Android 12 on your Pixel device to try it out.
