Apple event: M1X MacBook Pro, AirPods 3 to be ‘Unleashed’ on October 18?

The Apple Unleashed event begins on October 18 at 10.30 p.m. IST. Apple is expected to introduce a couple of new hardware products a day before the Google Pixel 6 launch event. The M1X MacBook Pro is one of the rumored products set to be unveiled during Apple’s event. Along with the iPhone 13, Apple may release new AirPods. Here’s everything we know about Apple’s event before it happens.

Apple Event: M1X Macbook Pro

Apple is expected to release a new MacBook Pro model in two variants. The chassis for both versions is said to be redesigned. Apple is rumored to reintroduce an SD card slot as well as an HDMI port on the Pro machine. The M1X MacBook Pro will, as expected, have USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. Magnetic charging support is also rumored for the upcoming MacBook Pro.

The M1X chip, an enhanced version of the M1 chip introduced last year, is expected to be included in the base 14-inch MacBook Pro. This model will most likely have a 10-core CPU and a 16-core GPU. The 16-inch model will use the same hardware but will have 32 GPU cores instead. Both variants are likely to include a small LED display as well as a ProMotion screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The top bezel will house an updated 1080p webcam, and the bezels around the display will be thinner.

A new charger is also rumored for the forthcoming MacBooks. Apple might release the same charger with an ethernet port that is sold with the iMac M1 to the market. Finally, both M1X MacBook Pro base models are believed to have 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Apple may release the 16-inch variant with the option of upgrading to 32GB RAM and up to 2TB storage.

Apple Airpods third generation

Apple may possibly announce new AirPods at the launch event for the M1X MacBook Pro. The upcoming third-generation AirPods will have an AirPods Pro design but will lack the “Pro” functionality. This suggests that the forthcoming AirPods 3 may not include Active Noise Cancellation. The charging case, like the Pro AirPods, is likely to get smaller and wider.

In comparison to the second-generation AirPods, the new AirPods charging case will have a 20% larger battery. Wireless charging will also be available as a basic feature from Apple. The earbuds’ battery life will be comparable to that of the AirPods Pro. This implies that a single charge can provide up to 4.5 hours of listening time. Apple’s new AirPods will sound comparable to the AirPods 2, but with better bass and low end.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier stated that the second-generation AirPods will remain accessible for individuals who prefer the older design. According to Kuo, there are two pricing alternatives for the AirPods 3. To begin, Apple may reduce the price of the existing AirPods 2 and fill the void with the AirPods 3 by pricing them at $199.

The second possibility is that the AirPods 2 will remain available for the $159/$199 launch price, but the AirPods 3 will be priced higher.
